Coway setting new sustainability standards


As a part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives, Coway released its sustainability report for the year 2023. The company’s effective sustainability plans include a waste mattress recovery and recycling system, Coway MulbitSori Choir for the visually impaired, Scope 3 inventory to measure generation of greenhouse gases and various other biodiversity conservation events within the local community.

Coway’s innovative sustainability efforts were recognized by the South Korea Ministry of Environment for their exemplary efforts in circulating resources.

Active Ants to operate Oriflame warehouses


The direct selling beauty giant Oriflame in association with Active Ants launched robotic operations in their warehouses in the UK. With this automation, the brand is aiming to boost its order accuracy rate to 99.9% thus improving customer experience by 100%. Oriflame’s warehouse with a capacity of over 250,000 square feet can contain 180,000 bins through its advanced storage solution called AutoStore. The Active Ants robots can pick and pack 85% of the orders in the warehouse.

With this automation, the power consumption at Oriflame is expected to be 100 watts per hour. Considering this, the brand has formulated sustainability strategies including fitting of 1000 roof solar panels, provision to collect and utilize rainwater, and reducing the cardboard usage by 40% by cutting all shipping boxes to smaller sizes.

Overall, robotic automation is expected to increase the efficiency of Oriflame by manifolds and order processing by 50%.

DSA Canada scholarships for future leaders


The Direct Sellers Association of Canada, as a part of its continuous efforts to support the education of students connected to the direct selling industry, awarded $16,000 in scholarships to Canadian University students. DSA Canada considers this scholarship as an investment in the next generation of leaders who would enhance the strength and integrity of the industry.

Since 2012, DSA Canada has awarded over $146,000 worth in academic grants to numerous students across the country. The initiative is co-supported by the Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF).

Rolf Sorg, Founder, and CEO of PM-International in his recent interview with the Direct Selling News threw light on how to stay vigilant during the transition period that the direct selling industry is currently undergoing.
